Two of the parasite species may cause severe disease in humans: E. granulosus and E. alveolaris (multilocularis). The liver is the most frequently involved organ in patients with echinococcosis. Radiological diagnosis is achieved by different methods, such as computerized tomography (CT), ultrasound examination (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (1). We reported a case with hepatic involvement by both E. granulosus and alveolaris.

Lung metastasis caused by an infection with Echinococcus alveolaris.

Echinococcus alveolaris (E. alveolaris) (multi-localaris) is a parasitic agent that commonly affects the liver and poses as a solid mass. In contrast to Echnicoccus granulosus, E. alveolaris tends to invade adjacent structures rather than displace and compress them. Haematogenous dissemination to other organs such as the lungs, brain, or bone is rare. In this case, we report on a 34-year old wo...

Combined Effect of Flubendazole and Praziquantel on Echinococcus granulosus Protoscoleces and Microcysts

Background and objectives: Benzimidazoles such as albendazole are being used in some conditions to treat the hydatid disease, the common parasitic infections of humans and livestock that caused by Echinococcus granulosus. However, treatment with these drugs is not always with complete success. In this study we evaluate the in vitro efficacy of flubendazole (FLBZ) plus praziquantel (PZQ) against...
